Line-Drive Drill

January 2007

By: Mark and Tiffany Crafton

EQUIPMENT: Batting Cage, Bucket of Balls, Bats, Helmets, and Protective L-Screen to Protect Pitcher or Pitching Machine.

PURPOSE: To assist the players in focusing on hitting line drills back up the middle and/or to all parts of the field.

Begin by splitting the players into two teams, or each player can compete as individuals. The drill works on a point system and the losing team or player will have conditioning on the line as their focus to work hard on hitting line drives. Player or team gets 5 points if the batted ball hits the back of the cage (in the air) 3 points if the batted ball hits the L-Screen (in the air), 1 point if the batted ball hits either the pull side of the net (in the air.) If the batted ball hits top of the net, the ground, or is completely missed it is an out. You play 3 outs and the winning team or player with the most points WINS.
